National Fire Protection Agency Requirement
The National Fire Protection Agency
(NFPA) requires annual testing of fire doors to assure proper operation
and full closure. NFPA mandates that release mechanism resets be done
in accordance with manufacturer specifications. A written record must
be maintained and made available to the jurisdictional authority. NFPA
also requires the use of manufacturer replacement parts for repairs. If
a fire door is repaired, NFPA mandates that another door drop test be
performed.
